Fundraising Overview
The goals of the Pomona Music Boosters’ fundraising efforts are to provide financial support to the overall band program for items such as new instruments and music, and to offer band families avenues for offsetting their student’s expenses to participate in the program, including traveling to competitions.
As such, the fundraisers fall into two categories – General Fundraisers, which require the support and participation of all band families, and Individual Account Fundraisers, which are optional in terms of participation.
General Fundraisers – Support the Overall Band Program
- Bingo – Students and parents work at the Bingo Mine Alley hall in Lafayette.
- Bandimere Speedway – Students and parents work concession stands during summer racing events.
- King Soopers – This fundraiser supports both the general and individual accounts, with one percent of the overall weekly purchase going to the General Fund.
- Pomona Fest – An annual band competition held in October that is organized, and staffed by, the Pomona Music Boosters.
Individual Account Fundraisers – Opportunities to Offset Student Band Expenses
- Concession Stand Work – Parents, students, as well as other family and friends of the student, have opportunities throughout the year to work the concession stands at sporting and other events including Broncos, CU Football, Colorado Rapids and Colorado Rockies games. Some jobs require TIPS alcohol beverage training. The pay varies depending on the venue, and is deposited into the student’s account.
- Domino’s Pizza Dough – Discount cards for $10 with 90% going to the student’s account.
- King Soopers – Gift cards can be ordered each week in increments of $25, $50 and $100, with four percent going to the student’s account. The cards are worth the face value and can be used towards grocery and prescription purchases.
- Old Chicago Pizza Pals – Purchase certificates for $11 and $5 goes into the student’s account. The certificate is worth up to $22 on a pizza.
- Scrips Discount Cards – These gift cards are available from hundreds of retailers, restaurants and entertainment venues. They are available typically in $20, $25 or $50 increments, at a reduced price, and a certain percentage (varies by vendor) is deposited in your student’s account. These can be ordered every other week and make great gifts.
- Special Fundraisers - Throughout the year, different fundraisers are available from flower sales to delivery phone books.
